The Waikiki War Memorial Natatorium was intended to be a "living memorial" to the 102 servicemen from Hawaii who were killed in WWI.
The huge 100 by 40-meter tide fed saltwater pool was once the site where Buster Crabbe and Johnny Weismuller trained for the Olympics. The site has been neglected for generations but an effort to restore and revive the area is underway.
Archway can be viewed from the front but the pool and bleacher area is closed.
